The Charles White exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago in 2018 had this collage called Headlines. I took only these two photos of it, the whole shown above and this closer detail:

It was made in 1944, at the height of the war, when racism in the United States was taking many ugly forms.

Looking now, I am struck by the extremity of elegance and profundity with which this renders learning about what people are doing to people through the news.
